REFLECTION

Experience:

Throughout the semester, I encountered various challenges and learning opportunities in my typography journey. At the beginning, I struggled with the fundamentals and terminology, but as the weeks progressed, I started to grasp the concepts better. Engaging in the assignments and exercises allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of typography and the significance of meticulous attention to detail. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow in this field.

Observations:

One observation I made during this journey was the difficulty I faced in maintaining focus and managing both the micro and macro aspects of typography. Balancing the intricate details of type design, text formatting, and layout while also considering the bigger picture proved to be a challenge for me. However, through perseverance and a commitment to improving my skills, I was able to overcome some of these obstacles and gradually enhance my ability to effectively convey my message through typography.

Findings:

Participating in this module has broadened my understanding of typography beyond my initial perceptions. I used to view typography as simply selecting typefaces and arranging words artistically, but I discovered that it encompasses a vast array of rules, guidelines, and techniques. I learned the importance of consistency, legibility, and creating harmonious compositions. This realization has given me a newfound appreciation for the complexity and artistry of typography, motivating me to continue exploring and refining my skills in this field.
